Organizations

 

Sometimes you need a bit more help than a hotline or chat can offer you. These organizations are dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ people and provide many different resources.

Scholarships

  • The Gamma Mu Foundation: "The Gamma Mu Scholarships Program provides support to gay men who want to further their education at a college, university, or vocational or professional training program."

  • The LEAGUE Foundation: "The LEAGUE Foundation provides financial resources for America’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender high school seniors entering their first year of  institutions of higher learning."

  • Live Out Loud: "The LIVE OUT LOUD Educational Scholarship was created to provide financial support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) youth who are pursuing a college degree."

  • Point Foundation: "Point Foundation empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential – despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society."

Community

  • TrevorSpace: "TrevorSpace is a social networking site for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth
    ages 13 through 24 and their friends and allies."

  • Empty Closets: "Empty Closets is a place where you can figure out who you are, surrounded by other people just like you. Whether you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, curious, unsure or a friend of someone who is, Empty Closets will help you find the answer. We welcome new members of all ages from 13 upwards."

 

Legal & Rights

  • Lambda Legal: "Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work."

  • National Center for Lesbian Rights: "The National LGBT Legal Aid Forum is a listserv dedicated to improving legal services for low-income LGBT clients. Attorneys from national, state, and regional LGBT legal organizations and legal aid advocates who are committed to effectively advocating for LGBT people and their families are invited to apply for membership."

  • National Center for Transgender Equality: "The National Center for Transgender Equality is the nation's leading social justice advocacy organization winning life-saving change for transgender people."
